Healthy afternoon snack
Okay, so about time I jump in on the green smoothie band wagon. I have tried the Mo's green smoothie that they sell at uni and it was soooo good but the downside is that it's $7.50 which is a bit too expensive for broke people like me. So, i decided to DIY it myself and save some money.
Here are the ingredients that I used, creates about 10 serves:
Here are the ingredients that I used, creates about 10 serves:
Kale - $3 a bundle
Banana - $2.50 for 3
Oranges - $2.5 for 2
Apple - $1.50 for 3
Coconut juice - $3 a bottle
Pineapple juice - $5 (2L)
Pears - $1 for 2
I used pineapple juice instead of real ones because my local market wasn't carrying the freshest ones as it's currently autumn and pineapples are out of season so they are super expensive but if you have the chance to, use a real pineapple :)
As for the measurement, I didn't really use specific ones, I basically just eyeballed how much I needed but here's what I normally do:
- Chuck all of the big fruits in the blender first so that your smoothie wouldn't be chunky, unless you prefer that.
- Add half of an apple, banana, orange and pear. Preferably cut them into smaller pieces first.
- Add one stalk of kale.
- Pour in the coconut water/juice and pineapple juice.
- Then mix until smooth. This serves about 2-3 glasses :D
- And you're done!
